「平成３０年７月豪雨」に関する学長からのメッセージ（Message from President as to the storm of rain on July, 2018）

　停滞した梅雨前線の影響により，7月6日から広島をはじめ日本各地に記録的な大雨による被害が発生しました。広島県，岡山県など各地で土砂災害や河川の氾濫により，多数の死者?行方不明者が出ています。7日13時，全学生に配信した被害状況調査報告依頼メールからも，ご家族の行方不明や家屋の浸水状況など，深刻な被害状況が伝わっております。

　不幸にもこの度の災害の犠牲となられた皆様にお悔やみと心からの哀悼の意を表しますとともに，行方不明となられた方々が一刻も早く救助されることを，衷心よりお祈り申し上げます。

　本学におきましても，各キャンパスともインフラに大雨がもたらした幾つかの被害が発生しております。三原キャンパスにおきましては，特に水道水供給が不可能な状態になり，市内の11箇所の給水で飲料水を確保している状況であることを伺っています。またLAN?ケーブルも地滑りによる断線で学内からのネット利用はできない状態にあります。また庄原キャンパスでは汚水処理施設が機能できず，トイレが使用できない状態となっております。そのため仮設トイレの使用を余儀なくされています。

　さらに新幹線を除いて，JR各線や幹線道路は各所で寸断されていますが，これらは復旧までかなりの時間がかかるとみられます。

　以上のことを考慮し，本学では既にポータル配信及び本学ホームページにて，広島キャンパスは，9日，庄原キャンパスは一部授業を除き10日まで，そして三原キャンパスは13日まで休講であることを学生の皆さんには伝えました。

　これからしばらくの間，学生の皆さんそして本学の関係者には，さまざまな不便をおかけすることと思います。学生Firstを掲げている本学は，一日でも早く，学修環境におきましても平穏な大学生活が取り戻せるよう，精一杯努力しなくてはいけないと責任を感じております。みんなで力を合わせて，この度の災害を乗り越えていきましよう。 

　「人間の力は，困難なときに鍛えられる」と言う言葉を信じ，皆さん前に進みましょう。

　なお学生の皆さんには，これからも機会ある毎にポータル配信，あるいはホームページに災害に対応した措置，授業料減免などの学生生活支援，さらにはボランティア活動などの情報を流していきます。注視するようお願いします。

Message from President as to the storm of rain on July, 2018

Due to the influence of static rainy front, the damage has been caused by a record amount of rainfall on various regions in Japan as well as Hiroshima since July 6^th. Numerous people have been dead and missing due to the damage from landslides and river flooding mainly generated in Hiroshima and Okayama pref. The circumstances of severe casualties, for example, family member disappearance or flooded house, have been informed against the request email for the survey to report the situation of damage, which had been sent to all students at 1pm on 7^th.

I would like to express my deepest sympathy and sincere condolence to the victims, and wish that the missing people to be rescued as early as possible from the bottom of my heart.

Regarding our university, various damages from such rain has been caused on the infrastructure. In Mihara Campus, water supply has been stopping, and I heard that 11 locations in Mihara city supply drinking water by opening tentative water supply service. Internet in the corresponded campus also has also been disconnected due to the breakage of LAN cable happened by the landslides. In Shobara Campus, wastewater disposal facilities have not been functioning and bathroom cannot be used. For that reason, it is forced to use portable toilets.

Moreover, except Limited Super Express (Shinkansen bullet train), many lines in JR and main roads have been disconnected and it will take considerable time for these recoveries.

Considering above circumstances, we have already informed by the Portal and university’s website that;

- All lectures until 9^th has been cancelled in Hiroshima Campus

- Lectures until 10^th has been cancelled except several lectures in Shobara Campus

- All lectures until 13^th has been cancelled in Mihara Campus

I am anxious about further inconvenience both for student and the people who involved in our university would be kept happened for a while also from now on. Our university, whose slogan is “Student First”, now feels responsibility for that we have to make our best effort for the recovery of study environment and re-establish peaceful student life as early as possible. Let’s overcome this difficulty by uniting our strengths together.  

We have to move forward together, with the quote that “human’s capability would be trained under an adverse situation”.

 Also from now on, we will keep distributing information to the Portal and university’s website, regarding the procedure respond to the disaster, student livelihood support like tuition exemption, and volunteer activities and so on, so I appreciate if you could keep close watch on.
